Outlining your Paper

Persuasive Graphic OrganizerToday we begin to take our notecards and turn them into an outline in preparation to write our research papers. Following the explanatory instructions on the handout, you should be able to create a correctly-formatted outline that connects each piece of your information in logical progressive order. The more detailed  and complete your outline is, the less work you must do for actually writing your paper. :)

Remember, your outline is the time you MAKE CONNECTIONS and ANALYZE the information you have collected, so check out this list of analytical verbs to help you connect the dots.

Why do an outline? Watch this video to find out the importance of an outline.

You are aiming to create an argument to PROVE A POINT about your author, no just to explain his life history. Take a look at this diagram to imagine what exactly your opinion and stance will be on your author.

    1. I mean, how are each of the facts that you have found tied together? What meaning do each of the facts have as a whole instead of as individual facts?
