Revolutionary Vocab

I want us to try something totally different than your previous experience with vocab. Each of you will always be reading an individual text. While you read, I want you to find at least one delicious new vocabulary word that you didn't know even know existed before your reading. Then, I want you to create some form of presentation that you can share your wonderful new vocab word with the rest of your class. This will be how you are graded rather than by icky vocab quizzes that don't really help you permanently learn the words anyway.

After the jump are a few options and examples I have found for you or created myself! I hope you enjoy!

  • Create an original song or rap. Perform!
  • Write a poem or series of poems with at least 12 lines. Read it!
  • Write a screenplay for a short film that demonstrates the meaning of the word.
  • Create a comic strip or social media meme that can go viral!
  • Film a video that demonstrates the meaning of your word:
  • Write a short story that demonstrates and uses your vocab word.
  • Create a model or diorama that represents or otherwise embodies your vocab word.
  • Draw, paint, color, or otherwise use your art skills to create a visual demonstration of your vocab word.
  • Or, talk to me if you have further ideas!
Make sure that whatever option you choose, you MUST display:
     the vocab word spelled correctly,
     its definition, and
at least one sentence that uses the word correctly.
